Wheels on Paper Ltd is based in Christchurch, New Zealand. We specialise in selling and buying Automotive Books, Sales Brochures, Magazine Advertisements, Hand Books, Technical Books and Workshop Manuals. In fact anything on paper, covering Veteran, Edwardian, Vintage, Post Vintage, Post War, Classic Cars and Motor Sport of all eras, concentrating on pre mid 1960's. Our range of Book titles is extensive, as is our range of original Sales Brochures and Magazine Advertisements.
Owned and operated by Rod and Bev Laing, Wheels on Paper Ltd was set up in 2002 and at that time all the stock fitted on one table. A look through our website will show how much we have grown since then.
Originally operated from our home in the suburbs, we are now located in a lovely tree lined street in central Christchurch which is within easy walking distance of the Central Business District. The building we are located in at Apartment 5/173 Chester Street East, was originally part of a brewery that was built in 1860 and is one of Christchurch's oldest surviving buildings.
While our shop is quite small, our range of stock is extensive. Rod is passionately knowledgeable about Cars of all periods, and the literature written about them. Customers can be assured of individual, helpful and friendly service. At times the shop appears to be more like a Vintage Car or Classic Car Club, with enthusiasts sharing their experiences and stories.
Christchurch, New Zealand may seem a strange location for a business such as ours. However as New Zealand has never had a domestic motor car manufacturing industry, it has always imported its Motor Vehicles, resulting in a wide range of Cars from all around the world being on our roads. Hence our large stock list has no particular leaning towards any specific country of origin.
From the outset a large part of the business has been mail order and internet based and we are very experienced with handling international transactions. We have dispatched hundreds of items throughout the world and postage from New Zealand is well priced, very quick and reliable. Books posted to USA, UK or Europe normally arrive in less than 10 days. The New Books stock-list includes many out of print and rare titles as well as a good range of recent releases.
Old and Rare Books - We have an extensive range of rare and out of print Automotive Books in stock. We are pleased with the number of very rare titles we have available. We are enthusiastic buyers of rare motoring books and welcome offers of stock at all times, particularly rare and valuable publications.
Motor-Cycle Books etc - Our stock includes a number of Handbooks, Repair Manuals and Technical Books. We also have Japanese Workshop Manuals of mid 70's to mid 80's era.
Trucks, Tractors, Machinery etc - We have an interesting range of out of print titles.
Sales Brochures - Wheels on Paper Ltd guarantee all our Brochures, unless clearly marked and advertised as such, are genuine, and have a money-back guarantee. We have many rare and unusual Brochures in stock. Our range covers Cars, Commercial Vehicles and Motor Cycles.
Handbooks and Technical - We normally carry in excess of 1,000 Handbooks, Parts Books, Workshop Manuals and general Technical Books in stock at all times. Our range of post World War I through to 1930's Handbooks is particularly interesting and we always have a number of very rare items. All items, unless clearly identified as being reproduction or after market, are genuine.
Diecast Model Cars - We specialise in the 1/18th scale range and our particular interest is in the high quality products from companies such as CMC, GMP, Exoto, Precision Miniatures and many more. Our stock of over 400 Models includes Classic Cars, Muscle Cars, Hot Rods, Sports Cars, Motor Sport including Speedway, Drag Racing, GP, CanAm and much more. We also usually carry a range of Motorbikes, Buses and Tractors. You are welcome to come into the shop and view them.
